Banana Fritters with Caramel Cream Syrup
These banana fritters are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, loaded with chunks of caramelized banana and served with creme caramel syrup.
- 1 egg
- 5 saba bananas
- 5 tablespoons of cream
- ¼ cup of flour
- ⅛ cup of skimmed milk
- 5 tablespoons of sugar
- 50 g butter
- ¼ teaspoon of vanilla extract
- oil for frying
First, melt the butter in a small saucepan. Add the sugar and stir until all the sugar has dissolved. Stir in the cream and vanilla extract. Mix well. Let cool.
Then, in a mixing bowl, combine the milk, flour and egg. Mix well until well blended. Put aside.
Make three (3) tranches horizontal slices of the banana then push them slightly outward in a fan shape. Coat the banana with the egg mixture and fry for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown. Place them on a paper towel to soak up the excess oil.
Place on a serving dish and drizzle with syrup. Place a scoop of mango ice cream on top. Serve while the banana is still hot.
Happy Cooking Time.
Use plantain as an alternative to saba.
