Stop looking for the best chocolate pound cake. This deliciously decadent baked cake perfectly moist and full of rich chocolate flavor. This is a chocolate lover's dream come true!


For the cake:

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 eggs, large
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder
  • 1 cup of Greek yogurt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp of cocoa powder, I used Ghirardelli Majestic Premium cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of chocolate extract

For the ganache:

  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chocolate, chopped


First, preheat your oven to 350 ° F and prepare an 8.5 "loaf pan by placing a rectangle of parchment in the bottom of the pan and coating it with cooking spray.

Then, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt.

In another bowl, whisk together yogurt, sugar, eggs and melted butter.

Stir in chocolate extract and milk, mix until smooth.

Stir the wet ingredients into the dry until the dough comes together.

Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.

Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

Add heavy cream to a bowl and microwave for 30 seconds, then add chopped chocolate and mix until smooth.

Transfer the cake to a wire rack placed on a baking sheet and spread the ganache over the cake.

Let cool for another 10 to 15 minutes, slice and serve.
