Sausage Hash Brown Breakfast Casserole
The Ground Sausage Breakfast Casserole is a hearty, filling and delicious way to start your day! This easy-to-make recipe can easily be made the night before and is perfect to enjoy on vacation mornings. Make with, turkey sausage, bacon or even beef.
- 8 eggs
- ½ cup of milk
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 lb beef, sage or spicy sausage
- 2 lb bag of frozen chopped chocolate, thawed (see note below)
- ½ onion, finely chopped
- 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- ¼ teaspoon of pepper
First, preheat the oven to 375 ° F.
Then, spray a 13 x 9 baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.
In a sauté pan, cook the onions and sausages and mash them.
Drain off excess oil. If you wish, you can remove the mashed sausages from the pan, leave the oil behind and then lightly brown the hash, this will add a nice flavor to the pan.
In a medium bowl, beat the eggs, milk, 1 cup grated cheese, salt and pepper.
On a baking sheet, spread the fries on the bottom of the pan.
Spread the cooked sausages over the hash browns.
Then pour the egg mixture over it.
Sprinkle remaining cup of cheddar cheese on top.
Cover with foil and bake for about 30 minutes.
Remove the foil and cook for another 10 minutes. Just look at it to make sure the cheese isn't too brown. Happy Cooking Time.
* Cook's Note: Make sure your hash browns are thawed and dried. Dry them with a paper towel. You don't want that extra moisture to make your pan runny. For an extra layer of flavor, try browning the hash browns in a saucepan before putting them in the baking dish.
Like most casseroles, it's perfect to make the night before so you're ready to cook the next morning!
