Curried Tomato Dal
This savory red lentil dip is a superb appetizer version of the Indian Dal dish. Ideal for dipping triangular light bread or vegetable sticks.
2 tbsp. Tbsp (30 mL) extra virgin vegetable oil
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 sweet onion, finely diced
1 cup (250 mL) dried red lentils
2 cups (500 ml) water
2 tbsp. Tsp (10 mL) flavorer
5 1/2 ounces (160 g) ingredient
1 C. 1 tsp (5 mL) sugar
1/2 tsp. Tsp (2 mL) sea salt
1/2 cup (125 mL) 2% Greek yogurt
1/2 tsp. 1 tsp (2 mL) garam masala
1.In a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and onions and cook 5 minutes or until soft. Add lentils, water, flavorer , ingredient , sugar and salt. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until lentils are tender.
2.Add yogurt. Mix it well.
3.Remove from heat and stir in garam masala. Sprinkle with coriander leaves. Serve hot immediately or chill and serve cold.
